Pempek, Indonesian Traditional Dish


Pempek or Empek-empek is a savory Indonesian fishcake. It's from Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. It's made of fish and tapioca for the main ingredients. There are some variants of Pempek; Kapal Selam, Lenjer, Adaan, Lenggang, Kulit, Model, Pastel, and other more. All of them are so good. Most of Indonesian people like Pempek. Pempek could be as a main course or snack.

Pempek is served with sweet and sour sauce. Indonesian people call it cuko or cuka which means vinegar. If someone wants the spicy one, there is sambal made of hot green chili. Diced cucumber and dried little shrimp are the complement of this dish.
