Kue Klepon, Indonesian Traditional Snack

Kue Klepon is one of Indonesian traditional food that made from sticky rice flour. But some people make this food using sweet potato as the main ingredient.

Kue Klepon has a round shape, the color is light green, and the taste is sweet and tasty because there are palm sugar inside and grated coconut outside. Once you eat and bite it, don't open your mouth when Klepon is inside your mouth. Because the palm sugar will melt in your mouth shortly.

Kue Klepon has already been around Indonesia in 1950s and is still around until now. We can find it on traditional market or the street in the night.

To make Kue Klepon is very easy. It's not hard to find the ingredients for making it. We only need:

  • Sticky rice flour
  • Palm sugar
  • Grated coconut
  • Pandan leave or Pandan pasta
  • Salt
Or we can make it using the other ingredient. Just change the sticky rice flour to sweet potato and add some tapioca. By using sweet potato, the texture more tender and softer than using sticky rice flour. But don't worry, both the taste is still good.

Here is the video of how to make Kue Klepon using sweet potato.
